UPDATE: "Project Growmore"

UPDATE: Imagine a hydroponic system that does not rely upon external power. No AC/DC volt pumps to buy. A system that doesn't require a lot of land or space and basically operates itself, all you do is plant a seed and let the system do the rest. It could be used indoors, outdoors, or even on a small apartment patio. And In 45-60 days, you can enjoy a plentiful harvest. All of this, done without any special experience, knowledge, or even a Green Thumb. This is the dream and goal of "Project Growmore".

The good news is that, even though we're still in the planning/brain-storming mode, we've managed to over-come several very large obstacles. There is still a lot to work on before moving to the mock-up stage, but we're excited with the progress so far.

The difficult aspects of this project is creating a system that does not use any form of electricity (AC/DC, or even solar) to power the pumping system. The reason is that people in a Third World may not have access to electricity, plus we don't want to design something that will require a person to have to purchase any equipement. Another challenge is designing a system that is 100% adaptable to any recycled resources that can be found. Finally, the system must be expandable to any size, from a small, green-leafed vegetable system to a large, multi crop, communal system.

The final system will be free of any patent and placed in the Public Domain, so that everyone can use it. Hopefully this will help put an end to hunger and starvation.

Some might think that this is out of the scope of being a Prepper, but the way I see it is that Preppers gain a great deal of knowledge on many skills due to the diversity of thier preparations, and since the goal of many of us is to position ourselves to be a help to others in time of need - then why not start now? I was recently asked, "why I am doing this". And I told them, "because I can".

NEW UPDATE: One of our Facebook followers gave me a very good idea. He said that we need a nice logo, something that could be printed on shirts and hats. So, since I'm not much of an artist, I'm going to create a contest. You have the opportunity to help us to come up with a design for a shirt. The person who comes up with a design, that we decide to go with, will recieve a FREE T-Shirt, with his or hers design on it. I'll be posting more on this real soon!
